Can Google Translate Really Vet Refugees?

Those of us in the language industry know the limitations of Google Translate. We know that it frequently misses the mark, especially with nuanced or complicated texts. Even Google knows that their service cannot replace human translators. This article discusses the US government’s use of Google Translate to review refugee social media posts, in an effort to determine whether they are “safe” to be admitted to the US.
