How AI can make a doctor’s appointment better

There have been massive advances in AI technology in recent years, and yet, as we’ve often seen on this blog, AI can never truly replace a human when it comes to things like understanding the subtleties of communication, not to mention making emotional connections.

Another well-known fact of our times is that many doctors feel they’re not able to connect with their patients, due to paperwork. According to a recent survey, 54% of doctors feel their interactions with patients are negatively influenced by the fact that they have to enter data into an electronic medical record system during a consultation.

But a group of doctors has found a solution to both problems. Instead of relying on AI for dealing with a patient directly – say, by interpreting – doctors could use AI-based technology for administrative tasks, like the data entry that causes so many to have to put patient interaction on the back burner.

The idea shows how in an ideal world, robots won’t take our jobs, but they could make them easier – and help doctors improve and possibly even save patients’ lives in the process.

Read on to learn more about how AI can be used to help doctors and patients.
