Black Friday is not just an American thing

Medical Pharmaceutical Translations • Nov 29, 2019 12:00:00 AM

As if you didn't know, today is Black Friday. Many believe its inception began in 1924 when the department store Macy's advertised their post-Thanksgiving shopping during the Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. And boy did it catch on! Apparently, Black Friday in 2018 reached $6.2 billion.

And more recently, Black Friday has emerged in other countries across the globe including Brazil, India, France, Norway, Romania and Germany.  In Mexico, they call their Black Friday "El Buen Fin," or "the good end" while in the United Arab Emirates, shops cut their prices on what they call "White Friday."  Read on for more info about its history, Black November and Cyber Monday.
